What is TradePros?

TradePros makes it extremely easy to hire a professional for your home improvements (repairs, installations and maintenance) through an app and web based platform.

Do I have to agree to Terms of Service?

By using our app to meet a Pro for your project, you agree to our Terms Of Service. While TradePros makes the best effort of researching professionals, you have the ultimate power to accept or reject a particular TradePro. It is best practice to ask for insurance, business license and workers compensation information before starting your job.

What if I've forgotten my password?

Click the “Forgot Password” option on the login screen. You will receive an email notification where you can opt to select a temporary password. Please select a new password in the “Profile” section of your main menu. Note this password reset feature currently only works on your smartphone.

Our Professionals

We do our best to bring you the best Pros. Not every company can participate on our platform. Our method of screening and research only allows certain companies to provide an estimate on your jobs. Before a company is registered on our site and depending on their service categories we have a validation process requesting their liability insurance information, business license, WCB and 3 references. When verified, a company will receive a badge on their profile for each credential verified by us. We hope this makes your hiring decision easier! See more on each of the badges below.

Badges:

  • Liability Insurance: covers such situations as contractor-caused damage to your property, although it doesn't typically pay for repairing or replacing low quality work.
  • Business License: government bylaws require business owners hold a licence authorizing them to engage in or operate that business which provides related services.
  • WCB / Workers Compensation Board: is an injury and disability insurance system for workers and employers, paid for by their employers.

It's best practice to verify this information before starting your job.

How do I create an account?

Users can create an account in under a minute. Simply choose that you are "Looking to Hire a Professional" and login with either Facebook or Email. On the TradePros website choose which type of service you'd like to request and answer a few simple questions about your job.

What kinds of services can I request on TradePros?

Nearly anything for your living spaces! From household to commercial and industrial we are continually expanding our offering. Common trades we cover include general contractors, handymen, electricians, plumbers, landscapers and much more. Download the TradePros app for a complete list of our services.

Is it free to use TradePros?

Yes. It's absolutely free! There is no obligation to accept estimates. We encourage you to schedule appointments if you’d like greater clarity about project scope and costs. If you’re ready to hire a Pro through, simply schedule a date for them to come complete the job!

Posting a Job

How do I post a Job?

Simply answer a few questions about what you need done, snap some relevant pictures, enter your location, and sit back to watch estimates come in from different TradePros (skilled Trade Professionals) in your area. All this without having to meet with anyone, make calls, or discuss jobs with overbearing salespeople. You get the best professional at a competitive price with the most convenient delivery method possible, your smartphone.

When will I receive responses?

After you submit your request, you will start receiving estimates from different TradePros in your area. Depending on the type of job and the availability of our pros you should receive several responses within 24-hours. Once you’ve had a chance to review the estimates please schedule an appointment to meet and further discuss your job or alternatively set a date to complete the job!

What private information is sent to a TradePro?

Pros only see your name and general location when providing an estimate. Your phone number and street address will be shown to the specific TradePro you want to meet when you schedule an in-person appointment or when you want to hire a Pro outright to do the job.

Do I have to upload photos and/or job details?

We strongly recommend both uploading photos and entering as many job details as possible that either reference the photos or explain more about what is needed for the job. Our Pros respond quicker and more accurately to jobs that have better information. So don't skimp on details, try and be as thorough as possible!

I have a "Status" on my job, what does this mean?

All job postings are subject to review by TradePros platform managers. The purpose of this is two-fold: (1) to show our Pros great jobs (2) to remove any non-compliant jobs that violate our terms of use. Don't worry we release new compliant jobs on a first come, first served basis typically within minutes. Here are the statuses that you might see on your job.
Tip: you can edit details by clicking on the job in the "Jobs" section of your dashboard.

  • Out for Estimate(s): your job has been released and is awaiting estimates from our Pros.
  • Hired: you have chosen a Pro to do your job.
  • Confirm Completion: when the Pro has marked the job as complete to start the review process. Please confirm the job has been completed and leave a review!
  • Completed: you have finished the review process of your chosen Pro.

How does TradePros work?

Tell us what you need done by answering a few simple questions, uploading relevant photos and entering your location. After you submit your request, you will start receiving estimates from different TradePros in your area. Review the estimates and conveniently schedule an appointment with the TradePro you like.

What private information is sent to a TradePro?

Pros only see your name and general location when providing an estimate. Your phone number and street address will be shown to the specific TradePro you want to meet for an in-person consulation when you select the option to "Work With this Pro".

Do I have to upload photos and/or job details?

Our Pros respond quicker and more accurately to jobs that have better information. So don’t skimp on details, try and be as thorough as possible!

Why aren't any TradePros responding with estimates for my job?

This could be for several reasons:

  • A lack of job details and/or no photos might make your job unappealing. This may also make providing you a price estimate extremely difficult.
  • TradePros are extremely busy. Peak demand for home improvement Pros is mid-summer (June-August). We encourage you to be patient in these months.
  • Your job is a true "Odd job", it might take more time to encourage Pros to have a look and assess what is needed.

Messaging

I tried to schedule a meeting time with my preferred Pro and the timing isn't working for me, can I change this?

It's tough for the stars to align when it comes to two busy parties scheduling. Please discuss a potential meeting time with Pros over our in-app chat feature.

Can I send photos over chat?

Yes, we have a feature that enables you to send photos over chat. From time to time Pros may request more information about your job to provide more accurate estimates so please give as much information as possible.

A Pro requested my phone number and address what should I say?

We 100% encourage you not to try and provide your contact details (phone number, email or address) over the chat feature before scheduling an appointment or agreeing to hire one of our Pros. Once you agree to work with a certain Pro via a scheduled appointment or outright hiring your contact details including phone number and address will be available. We have a super convenient scheduling feature so you can come to terms with our Pros on when it's best to meet.

Reviewing and Accepting Estimates

Can I meet with a TradePro before I decide to hire them?

Yes. You can conveniently schedule an appointment with the TradePro to get an in-person written quote. We encourage you to confirm a final price after a detailed consultation especially for larger jobs. For smaller jobs or when you feel confident that a Pro can easily handle your job Hire the Pro outright and confirm a date to do the job!

What should I know before hiring a TradePro?

Before the job starts it is best practice to request a written quote and verify the professional's credentials if they haven’t already been verified by TradePros management.

How do I know the professionals on TradePros will do a good job?

We research each and every professional to provide you the best service possible. Professionals we choose have great reputations as indicated by lots of positive experiences from customers like you. Not anyone can estimate and complete your jobs! Check out the Professionals profile for Badges. For the Pros who have business license, liability insurance and WCB information that we have successfully validated, badges will appear.

Ratings and Reviews

How do I write a review?

When a TradePro marks the job as complete you will be notified to leave a review. Make sure to leave a review as this is what makes a marketplace thrive. If you have any other comments on a Pro please contact us a here

Can a TradePro remove negative reviews or contest them?

The community wants to hear about good experiences and bad ones. As long as a review is factual and not offensive, we will not remove it. Our review process offers both a public forum (published to the TradePro profile) and a private forum (only we see it).

How are ratings used on TradePros?

Ratings and reviews are shown to users who are considering an estimate submitted by a TradePro. We only want reputable professionals serving you, those with poor ratings and/or customer service may be removed from our platform. We have a policy of two strikes and you're out - meaning that if a business receives two customer complaints they will be removed from TradePros.

How does a TradePro rate me?

Just like you can review a TradePro, they are also able to review you. Being a great customer means professionals are more likely to accept your jobs.

What is TradePros?

TradePros makes it extremely easy to connect with home owners for repairs, installations and maintenance in the most common service categories. Give us a try and let us send you more customers.

What kinds of jobs can I get notified for on TradePros?

Nearly anything for home improvements! We have the most common service categories and are continually expanding our offering. Common trades we cover include general contractors, handymen, electricians, plumbers, landscapers, painters and more. Don't hesitate to signup with us if you aren't sure whether your service is covered.

How do I create an account?

Pros can create an account by either signing up on our website or via the TradePros app. It only takes a couple minutes to get started with us.

I signed up as a TradePro, where's my validation code?

We make use of a two-step validation system as we like to research and qualify each of our Pros. There may be an extended wait to receive a code as we aim to limit the number of professionals in any one category, to give existing users a good chance of winning jobs. As and when we receive more job postings we look to add more professionals.

We request that you provide certain information upfront to speed up the registration process. This includes copies of the following information where applicable:

  • Business License
  • Liability Insurance
  • WCB

Is there a waiting list to get on TradePros?

Yes, we may ask new signups if they are interested in being placed on our waiting list. There has been overwhelming demand to become a TradePro and we review new signups on a first come, first served basis. We ask that you please be patient with us!

Why should I use TradePros?

TradePros is a smart way to get hired for different home improvement projects. It will allow you to grow your business while saving you time and money. Our platform introduces you to different customer jobs. Forget prospecting for new business, posting repeat classified ads or marketing: we handle it all. We notify you about new jobs, all you have to do is send an estimate, potential meeting time and personal message. If the customer likes your profile and estimate, getting hired is just one tap away.

How does TradePros help me win more jobs?

You have instant targeted access to customers who want work done. When you provide an estimate to a potential customer they will see your profile, ratings and reviews - those who interact quickly and professionally with potential customers can win a new job easier than ever before.

How many others am I competing against?

Each job request can receive up to 5 estimates in total. Out of the 5 estimates the job poster can select up to 3 Pros for in-person scheduled appointments.

We encourage you to respond to job requests as quickly as possible!

My Profile

How to best create my profile?

Make sure to complete this section and sell your company. If you estimate on a job and your customer doesn't see any information about your company they won't know who you are. Here’s an example:

With over 25 years' experience, [company name] is a full-service contracting firm that specializes in both residential and commercial renovations. Our services include but are not limited to interior design, engineering, bathroom renovations, kitchen renovations, basement development/renovations, decks, exterior packages, commercial office renovations and other improvements.

[company name] is licensed, bonded, insured and holds current WCB coverage. We look forward to working with you in on your renovation projects!


This shows you are interested in both the job and educating the customer. The Pros doing this already are seeing the best results.

Credential Badges

Give your customers more confidence in the hiring process. Please send copies of your insurance, WCB and business license information in via email to be validated by us. This will give you badges on your profile making it more attractive to potential customers.

Your Skills

You can update categories you wish to receive, or not to receive leads in by tapping the relevant button. We add new categories from time-to-time, make sure to watch out for our email updates to hear about the latest.

Profile Picture

Customers like putting a face to a company name. This is the most preferable. If you'd rather not, then second best would be to include your company logo. No profile picture is the least preferable - try your best to include something, every feature counts!

Leads

How do leads work?

When a customer posts a job in a category you service, you will receive a notification that a new job is available.You are able to view these in the "Leads" section of your dashboard.

What information does a lead have?

Each job lead will come complete with specific details, photos, location and answers to questions we have provided the customer. If you don't have all the information you need please request an 'on-site assessment' by selecting this option in your estimate.

What if I don't want to respond to a lead?

Don't feel the need to respond to every lead. If you don't like the looks of the job you can Ignore it. This can be done by either selecting "Ignore" at the bottom of the job details or swiping left on the job in the list of leads.

What if I want to pursue this job?

Please submit an estimate, personal message, and potential time for service. See "Providing Estimates" for more. The more details in the personal message the better! Try and engage the job poster by starting a conversation with some questions about the job.

How do I manage lead notifications?

You can change the types of leads you receive notifications for by editing your profile. You can see this by selecting "Profile" from the main menu and then clicking "Lead Settings"

Providing Estimates

How do I provide an estimate?

If you are comfortable with job lead and information click the "Provide Estimate" button. You will be directed to our estimate template where you should enter a price, services and materials included, plus a personal message that has a potential time for service plus any other information relevant to the job.

Can I Save an Estimate Template?

Yes, if you have a favorite template please select "Save Template" with a relevant name. You can use this for your next estimate to populate the fields very quickly.

What type of prices can I enter?

Depending on the type of work there is many different ways you can provide a price estimate. We realize that no job is the same, nor it it possible to consistently offer a 100% accurate price without actually seeing the job. However customers value seeing some sort of price. Pros doing this see great results.

Below are options for entering a price estimate:

  • Price range - enter a low and high-end price.
  • Hourly rate - enter your hourly rate (if possible indicate how many hours you expect the job to take).
  • Need more info - skip adding a price when job just has too many variables. We automatically indicate to the customer that you would like to visit the site.


Please explain your pricing and other variables in the text field of your estimate.

What if it's too hard to give a price with the information I have?

If you don't feel you have the right information about the job please request more information and an on-site appointment.

Why can't I send my number, email or address in the estimate details?

We have a tool for screening out phone numbers and emails from the estimate details. We would like you to keep communications on the TradePros platform until the customer books an appointment to meet you.

Please note: customer phone numbers, addresses, the messenger feature and other information will be made available after they schedule an appointment to meet with you or hire you outright. Please feel free to get in contact with the customer via your method of choice.

How many estimates can a customer receive?

We max out the number of estimates on one job at 5. So please try and respond asap.

I have a "Status" on my estimate, what does this mean?

All estimates are subject to review by TradePros platform managers.   • In Review: at this stage TradePros management have yet to release your estimate, we are checking for good estimates. We may ask you to change certain details. Tip: you can edit details by clicking on the estimate in the "Estimate" section of your dashboard.
  • Active: your estimate has been released to the job poster.
  • Viewed or Not Viewed: if the job poster has viewed or not viewed your estimate.
    Tip: if you see your estimate was viewed follow up with an in-app message asking if they have any questions!

Is my online estimate binding?

No.
Please confirm a final price when the customer requests to meet with you for a detailed site assessment.

Please update the estimate in the app once a final price has been decided. Keeping the information in the app gives you and the customer the easiest way of keeping track of jobs and prices for future reference.

Working With a Customer

A customer wants to schedule to meet me, what's next?

Once a customer views your estimate they can choose to propose a time to meet you. This means they either want to have you complete the work on that date, or have a more detailed assessment for a larger job. Once they suggest 3 dates, review the potential dates and either:

  • Confirm one of the dates and firm up a time via messenger.
  • Do not confirm the dates and firm up a date and time via messenger.
  • Confirm a date and time via phone call. The customer's phone number will be listed in the "clients" section of your dashboard.

A customer wants to hire me, what’s next?

Once a customer views your estimate they can outright hire you for the job. Just like the above confirm a date and time to do the actual work.

If you have finished a detailed assessment of the job and provided a formal quote encourage the customer to continue using the app to "Hire" you as this will lead to the next step in the review process.

Where can I find the customer's contact information and exact location?

Once a customer agrees to work with you via scheduled appointment or outright hiring, you are able to see all their details in the "Clients" section of your dashboard.

Is TradePros involved in the payment process?

Take payment and handle invoices how you have previously. TradePros does not have any involvement in the payment process.

How do I follow up?

TradePros does automated follow ups for you with push notification reminders, messages and emails. We do everything possible to encourage customers to meet with you.

If you get an appointment booked please follow up via messenger or phone call to discuss the date/time for a meeting.

How Much Does it Cost to Register as a Pro?

How Much Does it Cost to View Leads and Provide Estimates?

It's 100% FREE to view leads and provide estimates permitting you have an appointment credit balance on your account. You will be made aware of the credit cost for guaranteed scheduled appointments on the job lead. Your credits will only be debited once a customer sends an appointment request to meet with you.

How do credits work?

We want to earn a fee when you have the best chance of getting hired - when a customer agrees to meet you. TradePros does not participate in any up-sell on the job site or repeat business.

We decide the credit cost of getting an appointment for each job, so you'll know the credit cost upfront. The credit cost will range from 1 to 4 credits. A small job is only 1 credit while a large commercial job will be a maximum of 4 credits.

A single credit is worth $10. We offer larger credit packages with greater discounts for the more you purchase.

How do you decide the credit cost?

Based on our data of the estimated size of a job.

Do I need credits to win a job?

Yes, you will need to purchase at minimum 1 credit to start estimating on jobs.

What if I don't have enough credits when I get booked for a job?

If your credit balance is less than the credit cost for a job you win you will face overage charges of $12.50 per credit.

For example if you have 1 credit in your account and the job costs 2 credits the 1 credit will be debited plus you will be charged an additional $12.50. Please make sure to have sufficient credits to avoid additional fees.

Do I get a free trial of your system?

Yes. We offer all new Pros 2 free appointment credits to get started with us.

Do credits ever expire?

No, credits do not expire.

Are credits refundable?

No, credits are non-refundable. In the event a scheduled appointment does not materialize we will add the credits back into your account. This does not include appointments you went to but didn't win the work.
